What Games Are You Playing?

Currently playing Star Ocean The Second Story R, which has become my GOTY.
Highly recommended, no need to play the first game, they're very loosely related.

If you really must play the first one though play "First Departure" that was re-released on PS4 / Switch. I must precise that "First Departure" is a sort of remaster, not a full-on remake like "The Second Story R".
Me, too! I'm on my Rena run now, having finished Claude about a week ago; I just reached the point where we got our Psynard on Nede.

I played the original back in the late 90's. It is one of my top five all-time favourite JRPG's, and in my top 20 for favourite games in general. That said... The remake is much more enjoyable. The quality-of-life upgrades are tremendous- almost game-breaking levels of good, in fact.

I'm loving it! :D

I take a break with PSO during one week Holidays and i play Momotarou Katsugeki, Action/Adventure on Pc-Engine HUcard.
I always liked NEC and owned the PC-Engine Duo during the 90s.
Momotarou Katsugeki is really cute, very funny !
It's worth a try I think.

I just bought it last night because one of the 2 main characters is an elf lol, plus I dont see space fantasy games often

Earlier in the year I was playing quite a bit of Minetest. On server I played on was based around the TechAge modpack. Offline I was playing the Hades mod.

I will be on vacation and, therefore, you will not see the Vampire Lolita Meier for 2 weeks ^w^.
So, I started playing Tengai Makyô Ziria, the 1st episode of this legendary series on Nec consoles that made me dream of when I was a teenager. Thanksfully, The game has been translated into English (you can find a rom here).

I also loved Hudson soft games back in the days.
One of my best friend owned a PC engine GT and i could borrow it from him a few times.
One of the most advanced piece of technoogy for the era if you compare it to the other portable systems you had at the time: aka Game Boy or Game Gear.

Bonnes vacances!!!

Hellcard with a group of 3 is addictive. It’s got the same satisfaction of Slay the Spire, except multiplayer.

Same group of 3 is now playing For the King. We aren’t too deep into it, but our first campaign is tons of fun so far. It’s like d&d stripped down to a super basic version where you have some innate class skills, then your gear determines the rest of your skills and abilities. Very rng but that just makes for good times with friends.

not playing but looking forward to Factorio: Space Age next month, Suikoden HD I&II Remaster next year (delayed sadly), and Sea of Stars DLC

Been playing Pokémon the Trading Card Game Live on the phone lately… lemme know if any of you wanna play some of my meme decks! Lol

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

These games are so good. Sucked me back into Star Wars

PSOBB, took a bit of a break as I always will but I'll always come back :3
Mechwarrior 5
TurtleWoW
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen
Dragon Age: Origins

I'm trying to play through the DA series before Veilguard releases and it's been a -long- time since I played through one of the greatest series ever made in Legacy of Kain so it's about time.

The GT seems a real beast lol, i always loved the wavetable synthesis on pc engine. it uses the same tech the one channel on gameboy uses for more sophisticated soundwaves (basically letting you "draw" the soundwave, so you get much more complex sounds than just pulses, squares, saws etc), albeit for pc engine it's 6 channels like this. basically you could also play back high quality samples with those channels, by splitting them up in sequential "instrument" macros.. the only question seems regarding the battery life, lol.. did it last longer than gamegear?

Edit:
Been playing a lot of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly in hardcore aka Iron Man mode. Funny 1 shot frustration simulator

Hey Dezo!
Well no the PC engine GT required 6 battery AA for something like two hours of gameplay, i played it 100% wired.
Never tried wavetable synthesis on PC Engine but it could be fun, was it a Z68000 powering sound on it?

Oh, i completely forgot to reply here, sorry! Seems like the GT is the winner for "most power hungry retro handheld" then!

The PC Engine CPU is a custom 6502-compatible (see also: Apple II, cough cough NES cough cough (removing the BCD mode may void the patent, but not common sense lol)), which is kinda surprising at first until you realize the little beast ran at a whopping 7,16MHz : ) That's easily 2x the speed of the Z80 in an(y) SMS, and relatively precisely 4x the speed of the 2A03 in an NTSC NES or FC.
Considering the potential for great graphics, sound and performance of the PC Engine (overall considered by many to be the "most powerful 8-bit machine" - albeit that's always a multifaceted and certainly subjective story) it's no big surprise! From what i understood, the only real lack with PC Engine was the lack of non-arcade games. I might be mistaken, but from what i understood, you won't find ex. many RPGs, story-driven Action Adventures, complex Strategy games, etc. With most other systems, you'd at least find some JP-exclusive gems (like how the Game Gear has had a lot of JP-only RPGs.. even a Lunar title)!

Any PC Engine (console or handheld) definitely on my list of systems to get before going senile. Swimming in what is regionally regarded as "conventional" retro systems, all that remains is "exotic" stuff like an(y) MSX, or specifically Arabic MSX machines (Al Alamiah/Sakhr), any PC88/PC98,.. and with some luck in the lottery, one or two authentic arcade cabinets haha!
