Xpadder help - remapping face buttons

hi all, trying to use Xpadder for the first time, but i think i'm not grasping something. apologies if this is common knowledge or has been answered for a while.

i'd like to make it so pressing A works like normal (executes regular attack) and holding RT + A will execute hotbar item 1. in Xpadder, i have RT set up to switch to a different set while held, and on that set I remapped the A button to 1. however, when i press RT + A in game, it executes a regular attack instead of hotbar 1.

i find that my RT + Right Stick inputs through Xpadder DO work (5, 6, 7 in the screenshots below), so it seems like i'm not understanding something about how the face buttons specifically. is it possible to remap the face buttons through Xpadder?

Xpadder doesn't replace pad buttons. It makes pressing a pad button also send a keyboard input.

So when you hold RT, your A button is still going to send an ordinary A press.

ah ok, thanks for the help, i thought Xpadder was replacing the buttons entirely. i was able to get this working, at least with RT + one button, by doing the following:

1. setting middle palette on the in-game menu to an unused controller button with the Input Map tool
2. changing button 1 (A) to down arrow in joy2key (switched to this from Xpadder, but i think the Input Map tool was the key here)

i think the part i wasn't understanding was that PSOBB is receiving two inputs when i pressed A ("button 1" from the controller and whichever key i mapped it to in joy2key). i guess assigning the function in the in-game menu to something else frees it up to only receive the keyboard input. not sure if that's correct, just trying to type it out to understand it better :) thanks again!

If you have a steam account (it's free!), you can add PSO as a non-steam game and modify the inputs there. That's my preferred method now.
