I went and share banked some items and went to switch to my ranger and it said there was an update. I finally get through and now I'm looking at 4 new character slots

u might have changed ur slots for characters in top right of launcher change it

/cbank changes your slots to whichever character bank of 4 you specify, 1 through 8.
You can have up to 32 characters on one account!
