Upcoming events?

IIRC there are 5 events on Ephinea every year.

Valentine (February)
Easter (April)
Anniversary (August)
Halloween (October)
Christmas (December)

Christmas and Anniversary are up for a full month, the other events only last 2 weeks .

Concerning Halloween, i believe the 4 weekly boosts are up together for 2 weeks.
You can also find Halloween cookies from any mob. Those cookies give you access all year round to special quests, very dense with enhanced DAR/RDR/RER/EXP rates.
Plus you get the classic vanilla PSOBB Hallow rappies which drop Mag Cells.

OH! Before you feel Side Stepped over "And seasons!!!!!" The server gods HAVE been playing Soccer with the idea of revamping SEASONS for over 7 Years now... Buuuuut Every time someone gets an "AHA! Hey, why don't we try...." moment, a BIGGER, 'better' idea pops up! And Seasons is relegated back to the 'Sticky note' dangling on some dry erase board. Don't Lose Hope~!! <3!
 
how would seasons work? like you create a fresh character and level in a separate server? And they carry over after some time? That would be cool if new items were added, or something exclusive to chase, or some kind of boost, otherwise I feel it might just divide the community further. Ephinea has a pretty healthy population, all things considered, but something like that could really put a strain on the ability to form groups, especially during slow times, if I'm thinking about it right.

Pretty much. You can read all about it on the (hidden) forum of yesteryear. It was pretty broken in favour of FO. Maybe they could ban the FO to balance it….

Last time this was the initial introduction of skins. And you could get spheres too. Now that the drop chart has so many skins I guess it could offer something else… I’m still praying for a photon filter that affects common weapons and s ranks… lol

I think it would be OK. The game is more popular than it’s ever been but even when I joined when there was half the number of players I’ve literally never had a problem forming parties in this game. You only need 4 people to form a party… even on the dead servers like destiny you can still easily find people to play with even though there’s like 8 people online lol.

Interdasting… I’m excited for whatever new frontiers might be offered. A hardcore seasons could be neat… I miss scavenger so much too… really made it meaningful to have all 10 IDs and the whole server came together to hunt all the games areas when the badges were undiscovered :’)

I am dying for seasons to return as I missed the first wave. Crossing my fingers!

Thanks for that link. I've been on Ephinea since 2015 but was inactive during Season 1 so this is new info for me. I still only play FO so would need a big incentivr if FO were banned. Interesting concept though.

Yea I joined around 2k17 so I unfortunately missed the boat as well due to being a n00b and captivated with HardCore mode as a n00b lol.

I guess people just blew through the game mode using FO. I can’t say for certain but it’s probably a huge factor as to why they never did a second seasons (they have also publicly stated that it was a lot of work; another reason).

If they made the seasons game mode HardCore then perhaps this would make it difficult enough without banning any classes (and who knows if banning classes is even possible). They could also just forgo HC mode and bring back exp-loss-on-death (this would also make it quite more difficult, if they ever decided to bring back HC mode I think that would be a good option in general as well).

As for the incentives they were always just skins/spheres. This was before the skins were available from any other source and they remained that way for several years. Since they are so freely available then the skins wouldn’t carry the same weight and hype.

Perhaps for some just having the selection of spheres/skins would be appreciated and enough to incentivize them to play.

Of course some new skins (like photon filter for commons/sranks, or brand new joke weapon skins) could be used and remain exclusive to the system for some time in order to make them seem hype and not having to modify the drop chart and issue new /modsecid.

Another couple of ideas:
  • Level 80 exp tokens (instantly levels a character to ultimate level)
  • /modsecid tokens (allows section ID change at any time)
  • Extra character slots
  • 0’d Ubers from the Platinum badge pool
All of that being said I think the probability of them bringing it back in general is very slim. With the point that it takes a lot of time to produce the content: they now accept donations when they no longer did before. I think many of us would pay a small monthly fee (like $5) to guarantee and monetarily incentivize the devs to produce said content. Of course a lot of people have a bad taste about that idea (understandably due to the history of this within PSOs small community). If that’s too much then maybe they could set a community goal wherein they reach a certain monetary goal then they could provide new content like that, not asking for any individual to provide fiat currency instead the entire community as a whole. None of these ideas will probably ever be implemented but I find it fun to theorize! Long live Ephinea!!! I would still play with no events at all!
