Death in PSO does have meaning outside of HC. You lose time, shifta, and put others at risk if its multiplayer. You have good reasons not only to learn to dodge it, but how to kill it before it even spits.
This isn’t nearly enough of a penalty for dying over and over imo. Having some sort of small drop boost that accumulates as you gain large amounts of EXP and resets upon death would be better. Losing 2 seconds of DPS and 5 Synchro means nothing outside of speed runs. I know you don’t agree with this, and it’s okay if we agree to disagree.

Aside from this, seeing more quests that give greater rewards or special unlocked rooms for reaching a certain point deathless would be nice.

20-40 moons a game before having to restock might have something to do with death not being an issue. If moons were like scape dolls I bet people would mind death happening a bit more. Would make reverser matter more as well on FOs. Death in old rpgs use to matter some. Even in easier somewhat older RPGs like Earthbound party death was kind of a thing you didn't want and old PS games certainly had party death with some weight to it.

On that note I hate dying in PSO even if it isn't a big deal. Hate being a burden to the team even if it is for a few seconds.

Hasn't the badge collection started yet?
They discontinued this event (unannounced kind of, they put a discontinued event section for events on the wiki and put this event into it)
Im personally kind of bummed because i liked this event so much and it gave reason to have every section ID.

Atleast they could announce when they do stuff like this, lol. But i think they edited that section on the wiki months ago…

Sometimes when things are so BLANTENTLY unbalanced or a risk of ruining the original direction planned for Ephinea....Things have to change QUICKLY before sentiment mucks things up? "Atleast they could announce when they do stuff like this, lol." Would be an understandable outcry...But putting it to a vote or announcing would have prolly caused more undue stress for the powers that be. Behind the scenes, it's a constant thunderstorm of pitching ideas and keeping 'fingers on the pulse' of the community to keep Ephinea unlike anywhere else, you know? If it was unannounced, it HAD to be for a Reason. And that's ONE Door even your mew is hesitant to go knocking on for answers....NYA!! =u.u=

There's always 2 reasons.. The first obviously is to avoid having to specifically accommodate every next person.. The second depends on the subject and most often will be a simple "to prevent abuse/drama/trolling". I can understand if staff does not want to see 1000 banners of HC alts killing themselves off in protest and ranting at them in said banners :') The more time i spend thinking about that stuff, the more i can kinda get behind the "surprise!!" way of handling things.. As long as the littermates are allowed to cry out (which everyone is), complain to get their steam off, and actually get some answers (which they do) it's fine i guess!

Will comment later again properly, just felt like saying this (publicly) for now ='3
I trust staff only wants the best longterm(!) experience for everyone, even if the shortterm consequences of sudden radical changes can be a buzzkill.
Ultimatively, at the end of the day Ephinea offers the best PSO(BB) experience,.. That IS an argument by itself for me.. I will not use it to try and soothen the anger of those enraged, but i have to state it as my own personal sentiment~
And as others said: the funny little extras are cool to have! Sure it hurts if any are taken away, but it'll be fine, i'm certain :'3 It's still the best server and you're still "family". <3

Hmm, yeah something really off-putting about how this change was handled. No communication, no warnings, no discussion. A simple "if you don't like it, leave" tone. This reminds me of something, hmmm, it's almost like I've seen this kind of thing before... Disappointing to see. I won't let the door hit me on the way out.

This seems to be an unrelated topic to the removal of HC, but what? Is this saying there is no summer/anniversary event anymore? That seems like something that would deserve an announcement since everyone is anticipating it right now.

The more time i spend thinking about that stuff, the more i can kinda get behind the "surprise!!" way of handling things

At the end of the day I’m not a paying player (even though I’d be willing to donate to server costs if the need arises), and I don’t expect a vote. This isn’t RuneScape “we pay we say” bs. This is just common courtesy to people that have spent hundreds of hours dedicated to a character and account playing a specific way that was actively supported. Honestly, if I had a maxed HC character and you’d given me a week warning, I’d have banked my good stuff and offed myself to let the character die naturally. Just a 1 week warning of “we need to remove HC mode, you have 1 week to settle your affairs before we merge into normal mode”.

With the way this was handled, I will never make a classic character. What’s the point? You can role play classic in regular mode by just not using episode 4 items, and finding some friends who want to play that with you. All signs indicate that sometime in the future classic will just be merged back with regular with no warning, so why bother?

You can make changes and add or remove things and run the server however you want, just talk to us about it when you’re going to do something drastic. We’re all adults here. We should be able to have a nice discussion.

This is a disingenuous comparison. Classic can always stay separate and will not be ended or merged.

The reason hardcore ended is because, once you get your feet under you, you’re no longer in danger, and it was just normal mode with boosted rates.

Classic Mode is already functioning as intended BY DEFINITION. It won’t go anywhere.

Is it? We have now established that management can - and will - remove entire long-established game modes with their own independent economy, with no warning or public discussion. That is my complaint, not whether the removal is warranted or deserved.
They had good reasons for removing HC mode. There are no such reasons for removing Classic Mode. You can’t use gimmicks or cheese to bypass the intent of Classic like you could on HC, so they have no reason to remove it.
