Lately I've been bored with other games and after googling "Games like PSO" after randomly thinking back to the old days I came across this server. I have fond memories playing this game for several years but, never online or multiplayer. I'm also rather surprised to find out there was an Episode 4 since I only own 1, 2, & 3. The 3rd episode of which was a rather strange and different experience.... but, I digress. As mentioned in the title I use to play back around the early 2000s on the Gamecube and am interested in what this server has to offer. You'll have to pardon my ignorance and forgetfulness as I try to recall all the terminology and relearn a bit of the game all the while navigating a new forum/website but, simply looking through a couple of posts it appears to be a rather friendly community.

I can tend to be long winded- So let me just ask a couple starter questions so I can hopefully get to know everyone better later on;

How does multiplayer work? Is there somewhere I can read up and learn the basics of the basics so I know how it functions/interacts since I've only ever played solo offline. (I dont even know if I can accidently hit a teammate or if items are shared/different drops for each player)
Do people typically only chat using the in-game functions, a discord (for offline/online chat or even voice), and/or this forum exclusively?
Do people tend to stick with a singular character they continually level or is there usually a level that a character is retired or people tend to not party with? Do people like to form groups together and play together with a character exclusively?

Again, my apologies for the questions in my own introduction but, I'm interested in getting to know others more. A bit on myself though; I'm a 34 Male in America that enjoys anime, several different types of games of varying nature, a relaxing atmosphere but, a bit contradictory am rather brass tacks individual. If you've managed to read through all of this or simply skip to the end I'll try my best to not write a darn book in my future posts :P. Any helpful links to learn how to navigate and get to know others more would be appreciative~

EEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!!! *POUNCES the Detha-san Excitedly while examining wiff a warm giggle~!*. AAAAnnnd yet another Old Guard Cuber has fallen victim to the Topless Siren's song of 'nostalgia' and washes up upon our little tribe's shore! *Picks you up off the floor with another warm fanged grin!* ....
Well, you're an energetic one aren't ya~? *Takes a deep breath while stretching her arms over her head showing her claws...* Let's seeee....

DON'T for a SECOND look down on yourself for never being 'Online', luv! All you really missed out on was all the RAMPANT HACKING that's left some of us Console players PSO PTSD!!
>Multiplayer is pretty seamless and flows quite well...there Are no 'friendly fire' incidents and players can simply pass through each other mid combat. There ARE however options for PVP for our more hot blooded residents. There's even an option for everyone in the party to Agree to type "/PK" in order to attack each other to build Photon Blasts perks before a Boss fight... * Mutters something about how it often gets Ugly FAST.....Good times..... >=3 *
>When creating a room it is "PSO2" loot drop by default, meaning we each get our own swag, unless you molest the room settings to revert back to "classic"...then everyone ends up fighting for the loot that drops =P.
>We mostly chat through using the keyboard in game and discord, but discord DOES has the option for voice chat and other perky features~!
>We initially has 4 slots of characters to create per account...some players can much around with online accounts and get more characters to use...think mew's heard someone say they has like 32 toons to play? wtf, srsly?
>The level CAP is 200 for your character. Most ppl after reaching 200 will either toss their paws up in the air and proclaim...."DONE!" and log off foolishly thinking they've 'beaten PSO' and 'Quit'....only to find themselves awashed in the lights and sounds of the PSO start up screen again and again, and again!
NO ONE truly QUITS PSO!!! MewaHahahahaha.... haha....haaa....er....ahem... More often times than not, high level players will log on JUST to halp others get their mojo back or new players find theirs~!
>Our demographic includes a LOT of 30something males AND females who also enjoy anime and make it a part of our PSO community! While online you'll immediately recognize some player names and even a few Team Flags that are anime related~! (Pssst,...You'll be happy to know PSO actually has GUNDAM Lore! If you're into that kinda anime).

And finally, no need to apologize for asking questions, silly! After 24 years of PSOing... we still hear game terminology and slang that make some of us go ...."Whaaaaa?". It's Still Fun~! Hope mew has matched your energy and Looking Forward to Pouncing and Playing wiff you, too Detha-san! Welcome HOME~! =3

Thanks for the warm and energetic welcome as well as the answers to some of the basic questions I had! I'll have to poke my newb head into an online game sooner than later. Hopefully I can find some people around the fresh levels to avoid being an albatross in the game. I'm also rather relieved to hear loot is separated simply because I've played enough Diablo 2 to know when it isnt anything on the ground turns into "Who has the fastest click in the west"... And regrettably Mecha is one of the few genre I don't typically watch- More of an Action/Comedy/Romance Nutcase...

Appreciate the link, I'll be sure to give it a read. As well as try out the asking in game part- Though I imagine it may turn into the picture of the town crazy person shouting in the middle of the courtyard. I'll probably stick to the forums and discord for most of my questions....

Oh.... action/romance/drama a little like mew's Avatar~?? nya~?

The avatar looks familiar from my days of watching Toonami but, memory is fuzzy given the years. I recall watching Tenchi back in the day but, its possible thats Outlaw Star which I've never actually watched.... I feel like I need to preform a dogeza for not recognizing it fully.... Oddly enough back then I didn't really have an appreciation for the genre until I watched my first one being Love Hina. Go figure a teen boy was too engrossed in the Dragon Ball Z, Inuyasha, and Triguns.... Romance was "too girly" and clearly not something a guy would watch! (/s)~

If you've got any recommendations for me though then shoot em over! I typically keep to the Modern Era of anime now though- and I've watched way too much to say what I have watched in the past in full... Will give me something to have on the other screen while I'm chilling in game :P

Oldie but goodie~! nya! <3

As for what 'newer' anime to suggest involving Adventure and Romance tones,...Apparently the latest and greatest trend are all the OP 'Isekai' themed animes. This one caught mew's attention early while browsing Youtube....

Similar story with me although I remember a couple of years (or more) back I did started playing this on another server (pretty sure it was Ultima) but lost track because I felt so nervous about it and never went back...

Actually read the manga before the anime and it is indeed pretty good. Some good Waifus too.

Had the chance to play online for the first time tonight and gotta say it was a blast. Cant wait to meet more of ya. As well as thank you to the kind stranger that effectively went "Here is a bunch of starter stuff- go do crime." Hope to see more of ya around.
