Oh boy! Some people will think I'm crazy... I guess they're right. I'll let you decide... So here's my PC gaming setup and how I set everything for PSOBB:
Keyboard: Logitech G19 -
http://support.logitech.com/en_ca/product/g19-keyboard-for-gaming
- I use the 12 programable keys for useful text macros (/bank, /lobby etc...). Can set up to 36 quick macros (12 x M1/M2/M3).
- Other than that I only use the keyboard to chat.
Mouse: Logitech G600 MMO Mouse -
http://gaming.logitech.com/en-ca/gaming-mice/g600-mmo-gaming-mouse
- I use the 12 programable keys on the side to copy the 1-9 keyboard buttons (the 0 button is on another mouse button under the scroll wheel) as well as the left/down/right arrows. This way I have instant access to all my tech/items shortcuts from both palets plus the action bar right under my thumb. I can also use the "special" G-Switch mouse button on top to toggle-switch all those keys to F1-F12 for quick menu access.
Gameboard: "Custom" Logitech G13 -
http://gaming.logitech.com/en-ca/gaming-keyboards/g13-advanced-gameboard
- I don't use it very much atm for PSO but normally I use this gameboard to increase (again) my access to pre-programed macros. I used that kind of stuff a lot in WoW to send instructions during combats when leading raid groups.
- I rebind some of the keys to simply copy a few normal keys like Esc/Ctrl/Shift/Tab/Space since like I said, I dont use my keyboard to play, just chat & commands.
- I use the thumbstick of the device to move (same as a normal controller), freeing the other fingers of my left hand for all the other macro keys.
Gamepad: Logitech F710 -
http://gaming.logitech.com/en-ca/gaming-controllers/f710-wireless-gamepad
- When I want to relax and don't need my G13 for additional macros then I simply use my gamepad instead.
- All the gamepad's buttons are set by default, I didn't need to change anything really. I think it's the same as the GC version.
- I often play with a "hybrid style" by holding the gamepad in my left hand, to move my character, while using my mouse with the right hand... remember all those extra mouse buttons?
That's about it, tho I have yet to try playing PSO with my PC Steering Wheel. ;P
So, what ya all think? Yeah... I know... I'm crazy! '
