When playing Government Quest 3-2: Machines Attack with a three person party, the final escape sequence area (after the swirly teleporter) is triggered by having the entire party stand on switches. In a 3-person party, this does not work because it requires four switches to be activated.

(We were able to progress after talking a friend into joining and standing on the fourth pad, at which point the quest immediately teleports you, so it is definitely the pads.)

One, two, and four person parties are not affected. This problem occurred for us twice on two separate attempts of the quest (the first of which we abandoned due to lack of time and not thinking of adding a fourth person yet).

Do you have a recording of this or even a screenshot with all 3 players on the pressure plates?

I took a look at the quest script and I spent about 20 minutes trying a bunch of combinations of players and switches ingame. Everything seems to work. Every frame in Mine 2, the quest gets the number of players in the party and checks if that many of those switches are pressed together. As long as 3 of the switches are pressed in 3p, the quest will do the teleport sequence to the next room. It doesn't matter which switches are pressed.

Unfortunately, no. Didn't think to screencap at the time. :(

I'll see if I can reproduce at some point, but my party that I was playing with are all occupied now.

Any way we could have ended up dumped in the 4P version somehow?

There is no 4p version. It's the same version of the quest, but the quest script dynamically checks the number of players and which switches are pressed.
