Changing classic character to normal character

Hey, I started the game in classic server to feel the nostalgia of the game but now I started to be in a point where the content is ending. Is there any way to change your character tag from classic to normal? If not then I think it would be cool option to have a command in the server to change your character from classic to normal (but not the otherway) since it does not give any benefits for me to start on classic. This option would serve people who want to experience the nostalgia but eventually play in the normal server. Now I am stuck with high level character in classic and dont have motivation to start new character to redo everything.

What is a “high level” to you?
You can indeed do a cross-play mode trade. Just trade all your classic shit for normie shit, easy. Should atleast net you a couple PDs and for example a RA class can be basically endgame for about 2 PDs and with a meme ATA mag you can literally have endgame stats at level 80 on a RA.

If it’s during exp week you can powerlevel 1-80 in about 3 hours in ep 4 with a FO powerleveling you. I usually don’t mind powerleveling people if you ever need the help and we can be online at the same time lol.

But no they’re not going to let you convert unless they decide to delete classic which would be ironic because they basically added classic and deleted HC mode 3 days later… LOL

Thank you for your kind and honest answer. I am 78 level but it took me literally no less than 60 hours to grind and I am very reluctant on doing it again. Also making new character and getting power leveled doesnt really seem very fun and right option for me. Many games let you change from harder mode to easier mode for free and I was thinking if it was an option also.

The classic server feels very dead to me also which is something that I didnt expect when I made the character there.
Yeah it’s super dead unfortunately. Probably because it’s missing a lot of the content the game has to offer lol. Personally I think people would only ever join classic because they hate how unbalanced weapons like DF and HS and Excalibur are…. What if they just met in the middle and actually did some nerfs to these unbalanced weapons SEGA added at the last second without balancing properly lol. Either that or buff some shittier weapons so people can use more of a variety lol.

Yeah 60 hours that’s rough… well if it doesn’t seem fun I understand but if you make a FO you can powerlevel yourself pretty gud and maybe do it in only like 6 hours solo if you know what you are doing (ep 4 resets, MST meme mag, exp week)

This leaves you with your only option is to basically just quit rip… BUT I would suggest maybe take a break until august when the anniversary event is which is the best event of the year. You can 1-180 in a week EASILY during this event… just an idea… cya around!

What would be the harm though? I’ve seen a lot of players requesting for this, and while I agree that the two modes should be as independent as possible, I can’t see any part of classic that could be considered easier or an unfair advantage over regular mode.

This may be something that I could look into doing in the future. (A command to convert your character to "normal".)

The way I have the data structured, though, the classic shared bank is entirely different than the normal common bank, so a player would need to make sure anything they needed to bring with them to the regular ships is on their person or in their character bank rather than common, otherwise that character would lose access to those items.

But yeah, that'd probably be the only thing to watch out for.

This is how it works in other games (such as path of exile or runescape). There are leagues that are solo self found and you can switch to normal mode but the bank does not and should not transfer anyway which is pretty intuitive. If they forget something they can always make new classic character and transfer items by changing the new character to normal.

I think that migrating the common bank is not a great idea even if it was simple. If you have more than one character, you probably want to keep your shared bank in classic, so either way it makes sense to migrate just the character bank.

Also, a possible downside would be good items getting out of the (already bare) classic ecosystem, so maybe a minimum level requirement (like 20?) to justify the migration could be a good idea. It makes no sense anyway to migrate a very low level character.

Just my 5 cents on this, hope it's useful somehow.
