Switch Pro Controller - half working

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this issue. I'm playing through steam so I can use my pro controller; and, it has been a while since i played, maybe a month or two, but now the controller config has reset. in addition to being reset, only certain inputs function and among those only the confirm key works correctly. When i go into the pad config menu to set custom controls, none of the inputs from the controller are accepted. Any advice would be appreciated, and yes ive restarted my pc twice now with the controller plugged in and without, same result both times

Try playing without using steam. Then see if you can remap the controls. If you have/want to use custom mappings later (for things like number keys etc). I suggest using joy2key instead. Good luck!

My problem with not using steam is the pro controller. Maybe its changed now, but I believe the client itself doesnt support the controller. I'll give it a shot to test it out. Does joy2key allow use of different controller types or is it primarily for custom mapping?

Yeah for the switch pro you are going to need this driver to have it read as xinput

I'll give this a shot, thank you! And to follow up with the client launch, I think it must not recognize it as a controller rn cause the pad config was grayed out

edit: another interesting point is my right stick is acting like a mouse instead of moving the camera

Yeah so the switch controller won’t read as x input unless you have that driver so that should do the trick

it turns out i cant use my switch controller through Joy2Key becuase its injecting spam inputs. works fine with steam but anything else and it just wont function (on windows 10). i found this thread on steam where others are having my same issue for future reference. That thread is 6 years old. You did try the betterjoy switch pro xinput application as well?
