Return of a long-time PSO player

Wow, I haven't played this game in a few years. Glad to see private servers still exist for PSO1, it's probably the game I've played the most overall (even though I'd hesitate to ever call myself good...) -- and I had the urge to play again after a couple years, so I figured, why not.

I'm using the username M00NSIDIAN here like I do on a lot of the internet (I went by other usernames at the time when I played PSO last, mind you), but I go by Nyx a lot of places. I started playing PSO back on the Gamecube, playing the original 'cube version fairly extensively and later getting Plus (after my brother moved out and took the gamecube and PSO with him, so I had to get new consoles and stuff). I managed to get online with that after a lengthy search for a Gamecube network adapter. By that time I think the main servers were down but Schthack existed, but I could be forgetting. Afterwards I transferred to PC for Blue Burst a couple years later also on Schthack, where I played off and on until Crono nuked everyone's files or whatever, then transferred over to Ultima, played off and on there, and am finally over here. So, yeah, needless to say, this game's been a big part of my life, and I'm grateful to see it's still around.

I legitimately... just registered less than half an hour ago and made a RAmar, named Brenner. Not 100% sure if I'll stay the course with him but I played PSO most often as RAmar, and "Brenner" gives a pretty decent section ID by my estimate, so there's a lot to like there already.

Looking forward to playing with some of you but I'm also def. anxious as hell

Don't be! We at Ephinea are welcoming to all kinds and characters. You'll find a group to play with, and friends along the way.

It just might take a while since we're currently in the between-event lull.

Ohhh! Hearing those 2 dreaded names (SCHTHACK and Cronos) still make me shudder a bit.

Also, lemme set the record straight for you. Cronos didn't nuke the files, he straight up lost them to a HDD corruption because he completely disregarded doing any preventative maintenance (backups, replacing drives, etc.) for that server. This led to him being rather unceremoniously kicked out of his own server.

I have no opinion of Ultima because I never played there, and do not want to start crap with them.

Digging through some of the info 'cause I do need a refresh. I'm learning some stuff from this that I never actually knew about, which is pretty great already... and definitely noticing that at some point I'll want to make more characters for a couple of things (no V101 or RR drops for purplenum, whoops! That's a ways away anyway though.)
