Greetings Ephinea forum and staff.

Some of you know I have been after an SJS for some time now. Officially, I committed to the hunt as of June 2nd this year.

The method: PW4 2nd floor stop after killing the 5 Gi Gues.
Kill rate: 25 runs/hr average, so 125 Gi Gues killed per hour or more
Approximate time spent: 180 hours and counting

As of this post, I just breached 4,000 runs that has at least a +25% DAR boost which makes every Gi Gue drop an item, bringing the effective drop rate to approximately 1/10,000. I have also done 650 'non DAR boosted' runs, so I have an effective total run count edging upwards of 5,000 runs, or a very rough 25,000 Gi Gues slain.

Before the event started, I was somewhere between 1,700-1,900 runs on the DAR boost, before we got the +15% RDR boost. From there, I believe I hit somewhere around 2,700 runs before we hit the additional +15% RDR boost, now affording me a luxurious +30% RDR which knocks the drop rate of the SJS down to around 1/7,800.

My patience has long since been breached, and now I must publicly vent: where the fuck is my SJS!?

What the fuck kind of bullshit bad luck streak is this I have so undeservedly earned and how do I shake it?

I ask not for anyone's pittance, instead, I wanted to share my tale as an example. Take heed fellow players: hunting ubers is a very steep uphill battle that is costly.

Thank you for your time.

luck and rng is part of the game. ive spent about 60m meseta on coren only trying to get sparts and only called it quits when i got to level 180 and put on my rr. 625 ventures x 10k = 6.25m meseta on avg to get sparts.

ade's been grinding for hit FS since the beginning of time and iirc he just got his 53rd consecutive FS without hit. i believe it may have been him as well that had to kill falz over 400 times before getting rr, and that was before the drop rate nerf.

pluto never got his heaven punisher and thats the only thing he ever wanted or played for.

luck and rng is part of the game. i'm as human as the next guy and can definitely get frustrated based on rng but theres nothing that can be done about it.

i found a 20$ bill on the ground today.
celebrate the small victories

25 FS on Ephinea without hit. 1/53 with hit lifetime and it had 15 hit =/

290 Falz killed when the rate was 1/64. Zero found. Had to purchase all of mine.

39 Gi Gue PDs lifetime. No SJS.

I feel for you. Some people just stay unlucky forever and it never turns around. I don't know if it's pure RNG if a character has some hidden stat that determines overall item luck for their entire existence.

RNG is a cruel and unforgiving mistress.

I've learned this harshness myself hunting for the Psycho Wand.

Thanks everyone for chiming in and sharing your stories. It gives me strength to continue pushing through what is undoubtedly my toughest hunt yet.

I'm no stranger to PSO shenanigans, and I have had bad hunts in the past where I doubled, tripled, and even quadrupled the drop rate without hitting the rare drop itself. Figures, the first time I buckle down for an Uber hunt I would exceed the effective drop rate by a factor of 3 (and counting).

Currently at 4125 boosted runs (650 non boosted, so 4775 total). Not giving up the fight.

i think this is why hunting solo is a pain in the ass. you should play with others and try to play for fun whether casually or time attack and you will find shit along the way. dont make pso a grind or a 2nd job else it becomes frustrating.
also try playing different quests because spamming the same one over and over again is very boring

Hey Ade-kun? Mew'd be MOAR than happy to find loving homes for any of those undesirable FS's! <3 Just Sayin'!

I know exactly how you feel, man. I've played this game across nearly every version of it. The only one I have not directly owned has been the dreamcast version, which I played for the first time at a friend's house so many years ago. I don't know how many impossible hours I've spent farming for items over my accumulated play time but I never had anything to show for it, none of the really cool rares ever dropped for me - not even a spread needle. The RNG is an unforgiving monster. But all the same, I hope you get that sword soon. The RNG should never win.

Thanks for sharing. And don't worry, the RNG won't win this one.
