**disclaimer** I mentioned this in another topic before, and maybe its a shit dream.. but the thought of this idea keep popping up in my head so I figured id just post it. What the staff has done with the ephinea drop rates to date have been wonderful and I do think that they have done an excellent job tweaking and balancing them since the servers creation.
--- FEEL FREE TO SKIP MY WHINING BACKSTORY ---
Why do people play PSO still in 2018? Well, IMO, its because we all enjoy teaming up with our homies and finding some sweet loot.
For a while now, whenever I log to my same few characters I jog on up to the babes at the quest counter to see whats going on and 90% of the time there are no joinable ultimate games. Man that sucks! So some will say "make a game," but to be honest, i want to join a game because I am tired of running the same 3 quests on bluefull ID due to there being little incentive to run other quests. Why would I ever run EN1, PW2, or TTF when running those quests are inefficient, or the items that drop from those quests are not rewarding.
So what do I do? I farm the same items from the same quests.. over and over again.
--- ANNUAL DROP CHART CHANGE ---
I know that a lot of the drop charts are pulled from PSO:BB and some others are based on Lore. But to me.. the drop charts have become stagnant. Each ID has a few select quests that stand out among the rest in terms of rare drops, and those are the quests that are ran the most.
I would like to propose annual drop changes at the beginning of each year. By mixing up drop tables, itll get people excited to try different hunts and figure out which quests are the most optimal to farm. Due to rarity changes, item market values will change throughout the year, making the economy new and interesting. An item like smartlink could become exclusive to greenill, potentially making it a worthwhile hunt as the current supply starts to thin out. Obviously powerful items should still be more difficult to obtain, but maybe you could find an uber from a boss, or s-parts in ultimate, have a 1/200 PD drop rate from a mob to help introduce more currency into the economy, event only items could become drops, and certain drops could become event items; or maybe even Falz could have a 1/350 chance to drop a photon sphere.
There are a a lot of things that you could do with drop charts to excite the player base. It might be worth thinking about.
