Given the fact that the balance is already tipped in the favor of rng, I don't see a reason behind balancing even less towards the player, but what do I know about balancing? Or anyone for that matter?

Taking away the boosts have left the event not even half as good. If it's for some sort of balancing thing, then whatever, but if that's the case.... at the rate we're going, the last killgate is going to open on or around the last day of the event, so players won't even get to use it. If event...
