I could be wrong, but in my experience - even an evasive "block" can result in status affliction. My HUCL doesn't really have a lot of dfp & it's happened to her (with ~1400+ geared EVP). Not that it's necessary, but I like to think of "blocking" as "guarding" instead, with dfp-based guards...

It's worth noting too, that you can be afflicted with status even if you block the attack.
